Inspired by Pope Paul VI's Evangelization in the Modern World and Pope John Paul II's apostolic exhortation Family Life, St. Peter's has created a "plan" to support the vision of Family-Centered catechesis that reaches out to and relies upon the entire faith community of our parish.
This special ministry goes beyond the boundaries of traditional CCD/Religious Education programs by involving the family in the faith formation process from PreSchool through Senior year of high school. We fully recognize and support the reality that all faith development begins at home, the domestic Church. The emphasis here is the renewal of Catholic Christian family life, the formation of community, service to others and "growing disciples" from the youngest to oldest family members. All parishioners
are welcome to be part of this vibrant ministry, whether or not they have children and regardless of their particular circumstances.
This ministry of catechesis (which menas 'to echo') seeks to provide our families with the knowledge, skills and opportunities t olearn about their Catholic faith and share it with others, live its central message by putting their faith into action, and growing in their love of this same faith through sacramental and sacrificial living.
It is in these ways that we help in the spreading of the Good News - the life, mission, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ - the central theme of Catholicism, a message both unchanged by the passage of centuries and in constant need of "refreshing" for each new generation and era. We are the Body of Christ, called to lives of holiness, sustained by the grace of the Church's sacraments, nourished by the Eucharist and spiritually bound to one another.
